Vision

Set Free to Thrive (SFT) is a non-profit organization fighting against modern slavery in Kenya. It is committed to preserving, maintaining, and restoring human dignity through ending human trafficking.

Mission

To provide comprehensive preventative actions, and timely responses to cases of modern-day slavery to improve the quality of enjoyment of rights and fundamental freedoms of all humans.

Nyangasi

Legal Counsel

Lillian Nyangasi is an attorney at law practicing in the Republic of Kenya. A seasoned lawyer and a founding partner of Manasseh and Co. Advocates, Lillian’s expertise in human rights law has seen her rise to among the top league of Kenyan lawyers. She is the Programs Director and coordinator of the Legal Aid program. She has represented victims of human trafficking pro bono in immigration, criminal, and civil cases. She appears regularly before courts all over Kenya, offers legal consultancy, and legal aid to victims and survivors of human trafficking. Her rights-based approach focuses on returning decision-making power to survivors to enable them to rebuild their lives. She considers herself a bridge to justice, through which victims and survivors can access legal redress and bring their perpetrators to account.

Auma

Awareness & Training

Auma Mtafuta has been an active member of the organization since its inception in 2015. She leads the awareness/ education program, which focuses on educating communities about human trafficking. She strongly believes that “knowledge makes individuals unfit to be slaves”, and the ripple effect of education on an individual. She dedicates her time to creating innovative teaching methods and a lasting impact using her previous experience as a teacher.

Shangwira

Survivor Coordinator

Pauline Shangwira has been an active member of the organization since 2018. As a survivor of labor trafficking from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, she applies her voice and experience selflessly, to deliver tailor-made protection services to survivors of human trafficking. Her mission is to prevent the re-victimization of survivors and give them hope and the courage to face life’s challenges believing in their immutable ability to achieve their dreams.
